Before Starting a Seasonal Character, Check Where It Goes Afterwards

A seasonal character can be a fresh start without being disposable. The difficulty is that “the season ends” can mean different things for the character, its equipment, temporary powers and unclaimed rewards.

Read the current official explanation for the game you are playing. For example, Blizzard’s Diablo IV overview distinguishes the Seasonal and Eternal realms and describes characters moving to the Eternal realm after a season. That broad principle should not be stretched into a promise that every seasonal feature persists unchanged.

Check four separate destinations

  • The character: where it can be played after the season.
  • Equipment and storage: whether anything needs claiming or moving.
  • Season-specific systems: which powers, currencies or activities are temporary.
  • Account rewards: what is shared and what has conditions attached.

Use the announcement for the relevant season and platform. An old guide may accurately describe an earlier transition while missing a newer feature. Record the publication date and any stated deadline, including the time zone, before planning a final session.

Match the mode to your actual goal

If you mainly want to finish a campaign at your own pace, ask how the seasonal boundary affects that plan. If you want to try a temporary mechanic with friends, confirm that everyone is creating characters in compatible modes. A similarly named character on a different realm may not be able to join the same session.

Before the final week, inspect the in-game notices and official support information. Avoid deleting characters or clearing storage merely because a forum comment says they will become useless. If a transfer requires action, understand the action before clicking through it.

A short end-of-season note can list the character, its destination and any remaining claim steps. Then you can choose the next season because its activities appeal to you, rather than starting again out of confusion about what happened to the previous character.
